Avila is a walled medieval city in between Salamanca and Madrid. You can walk along the wall that surrounds the old town and the views are glorious!

The walk to the university takes about 20 minutes. Here’s what caught my eye this morning.
Lodging
UncategorizedIn addition to camping we are staying in a range of places on this trip.

Abadia apartments, Granada. We went to the hotel and when they learned we were staying 4 nights they offered us the apartment for the same price!

Entrance to hotel in Cordoba; the Casa Patio De la Vega. A lovely spot in the heart of old town for about 30 a night.

Iglesias!
UncategorizedSpain is filled with churches. In this part of the country many started as mosques.

No class today so time to explore! I get lost easily but following a river is usually a safe bet. The French have a great word to describe mindless wandering, “flâner“; without doubt one of my favorite things to do.
The River Tormes runs through Salamanca and is filled with history, islands and wildlife. Come with me for a stroll.
Salamanca
SpainAlfred and I are studying Spanish for a month at Salamanca University. We have three hours a day and we’ll let you know how it goes!
